Insurance Plans

Dermatology Consultants at Newton-Wellesley is a private practice located at Newton Wellesley Hospital.  While we are closely affiliated with the hospital and with Mass General Brigham, we are a separate practice.  We are contracted with many but not all insurance plans, and we will bill your insurance directly as a courtesy to you.  Please bring your insurance card to every appointment.

  • Insurance plans that we ARE contracted with include, but are not limited to: Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim Health Plan, Tufts Commercial and Medicare Replacement, Allways Health, United Healthcare, Cigna and Fallon
  • Insurance plans that we ARE NOT contracted with include, but are not limited to, Aetna, Guardian, Network Health Plan, and PHCS.

At the time of your appointment you will need to pay any co-pays and deductibles that your insurance plan requires.

Insurance Referrals

If your insurance requires a referral for a specialist visit such as an HMO, it is your responsibility to call your Primary Care Physician to obtain one and have this faxed to our office before your appointment.  A verbal “referral” from your physician recommending our practice is not an insurance referral. If you are unsure whether a referral is required for your visit, please call your insurance carrier’s customer service line.  When you call  your Primary Care Physician for the referral, you may need to provide this information: Dr. David Jones – NPI 1952339327 or Dr. Jessica Scanlon – NPI 1689833857.  Our fax number is (617) 527-6019.
